Whilst the year of 2021 started with not much improvement, early spring events being cancelled and still no face-to-face meetings, more zoom talks were arranged to help you through the winter nights. Towards the middle of the year some events and shows were taking place, well managed  with covid restrictions in place and then more recently face to face meetings and talks were being held once again.

Through those winter months members worked on producing ‘Growing leaflets’ and they can be found in the library section of the web site.

Late summer saw the Southern Branch hold their second successful virtual show and by September  further normality was prevailing, and shows were taking place, the Scottish Branch managed to hold their Branch championships and I am pleased to say the National Show, organized by the Board of Trustees went ahead and was very well supported, the Northern Branch Show went ahead at the new venue of ‘Newby Hall’ and the Malvern Autumn Show was made into a three day show which enables the Midlands Branch Show to also go ahead
Our Membership has continued to grow throughout the year, and I welcome all our new members to our exiting society.  Don’t forget to keep up to date via the NVS Facebook page and facebook NVS members site plus our ever-developing web site (including the members only sections which you can access by setting up your own user account).
Our winter program of zoom talks has already started with numbers attending rising to around the 150 mark, they will continue until the end of march 2022, then the gardening will be in full swing again.  Meanwhile, to join a talk, book via the events section of the web site.
The ‘Chairman’s Challenge’ class in the National Show, being held at Malvern is sponsored by Medwyns of Anglesey. Red Onion seed 37-222 to be grown as an under 250g onion the seed in which he provided all members back in the autumn issue of SV we have provided you with some growing advice and tips which you will see in the Winter edition of your Simply Vegetable (SV) Magazine.

Moving on to 2022 the Trustees and Branches have a full calendar of events organized as covered within the events section of the web site and your SV Magazine along with our continued development for you, our members which includes activities based on feedback from our  2021 on-line survey.

Stay safe and well throughout the holiday season and beyond and let’s get your growing season started if you haven’t already.

All that this leaves me to do is to wish you all a merry little Christmas.
