Here we are again, only one day away from Christmas and the end of another busy 12 months. The end of the year is a perfect time to reflect on what has been achieved and in 2024……
On a sad note, we lost some very good friends this year who were stalwarts of the NVS and my thoughts go out to all their families and friends, they are sorely missed, especially at this time of year.

The NVS continues to go from strength to strength with Branches and DA’s working away to promote the Society at Shows and Events, not to mention their meetings with excellent speakers for members to enjoy.
The Trustees are finding more members are coming forward to either take on a role or lend a helping hand through our broadcast email function on our membership database which is most appreciated and a positive step forward, thankyou.
At our AGM in September Jean Forrester stepped down after six years in the National Treasurers role and Ian Mackenzie volunteered to take on the role …..then later in the year Faisal Ali came forward to take on the Social Media Officer role . My thanks go to all of you .
It’s been a very strange growing year, cold, hot, dry, wet and windy, but the show benches once again did not suffer, they were full of fabulous vegetables. I also had the pleasure of being in the Midlands inter- branch competition team at Ardingly this year, which was great fun. The National Show was held at a new venue, Ardingly, Sussex. It was a great venue and well supported
it’s great to see such an amazing range of vegetables , gardens and allotments on our members Facebook page. Thank you for sharing these. It’s good to see everyone sharing their successes, failures, knowledge, advice and harvests.
I was glad that I attended the Southern, Welsh, Northern and Midlands branch Shows, but sadly missed out on the Irish and Scottish Shows due to other commitments. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the Scottish branch Seminar either (Doctor’s orders), but I am looking forward to going to a new seminar being held by the Welsh Branch in 2025.
Through the winter months, our Zoom talks continue at our members request with the 2024/2025 program well underway. I have even had my arm twisted to do one, so I’m looking forward to it. Thank you to everyone who’d giving a Zoom talk for this session.
So, this brings me to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful New Year. Thanks very much to Evanna Tully for her lovely artwork. Have we any other budding artists amongst our members, we'd love to to share.
