Scottish Branch AGM
As reported last year, we are looking for volunteers to take on the Show Manager and Treasurer roles
You may have read in our Autumn edition of the SV Magazine, that after our 2021 AGM (held later in July due to Covid), it was announced that we will be looking for volunteers to fill two positions at the 2022 AGM which is due to be held on March 12th.
The two positions we are looking to fill are Branch Treasurer and Show Manager.
Branch Treasurer
Linda Stocks became our Branch Treasurer in 2013 and advised last year that she would be stepping down at our 2022 AGM in March.
This role includes maintaining the book-keeping for items such as annual membership fees (handling of cash/cheques), receipt of donations, handling the monies from our plant and merchandise sales from our two main events, handling of incoming sponsorship money, issuing prize money and organising the quarterly payment for the SV Magazine for the Branch. You are not required to be an accountant at all.
Show Manager
Frank Taylor, our Vice Chair, has also been our Show Manager for our Annual Branch Championships since 2015 and advised he would be stepping down at our 2022 AGM in March.
This role includes liaising with the show host/organiser regarding timings, access etc. Planning to ensure sufficient tables/benches and coverings are available, setting up of the show. Attending and supporting the annual Branch Championships. Organising the Stewards and Judges on the day along with the prize giving. This Show Manager works closely with our Show Secretary, Neil Muirhead.
We have a great team of committee members and are always happy to have more join the team.
For your information, the Scottish Branch Committee holds three committee meetings each year, in March, May and October. When we meet, it’s in Auchterarder on a Saturday afternoon.
In addition to the above meetings, we have historically held three main events within the year ; Spring display ( previously Gardening Scotland, possibly now Scone Palace),
the Scottish Branch Championships (usually in September) and
the Branch Seminar in November.
