Exhibition Leek Growing

John Soulsby is one of the most recognised names whenever leeks are mentioned.

Gardening has been his  passion for forty years, growing flowers, fruit and vegetables. One of his greatest moments was meeting the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at their home in Highgrove during the grand finals of the BBC ‘Great Village Show’. At this show he won the ‘heaviest leek’ competition and got the bug for growing giant vegetables. The following year he grew the world’s heaviest leek of 18lb 5oz.

John has also been a regular winner at the Harrogate Show and most of the major leek shows in the country. John supplies a large number of growers with leeks from his nursery in Kibbleworth and has been responsible for the JSN leek which won the National Pot Leek Society Show on two occassions.
