Sadly the Dundee Flower & Food Festival for 2021 has just been cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic.

They are , like 2020, planning to hold a virtual show.

Dundee City Council announced that the 2021 Dundee Flower and Food Festival cannot go ahead in its usual venue at Camperdown Park but will once again, as in 2020, go ahead virtually.

The decision has been taken after careful consideration and puts the safety of staff, volunteers and attendees first.

Councillor Anne Rendall, Convener of Neighbourhood Services, said: “As a long-time supporter of the Festival for many years, I am very sad that we can’t return to the popular and familiar sight of around 18,000 people visiting Camperdown over the September weekend.

“Given the amount of planning and logistical organisation that goes into this important event each year, and the uncertainty and risk we still have around events like this, it is just not feasible for it to go ahead.

“Last year’s Virtual Flower and Food Festival proved to be successful and showcased a lot of the city and region’s great gardening, cooking, baking and floral exploits. I know that this will be the case again this year and I urge residents to get involved if they can.

“The news will be a disappointment to many, who have loyally attended and followed the Festival over the years, but this is another sign that it is important we all follow the latest COVID-19 guidance and return to normality safely.

“If we comply with the guidance, then hopefully it will be safe for 2022’s event to return next year.”

The 2020 Virtual Dundee Flower and Food Festival took place on the website (link is external) and through the festival’s Twitter (link is external) and Facebook (link is external) channels. The same is planned to take place this year between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th September 2021.
